Cargolux finally takes delivery of first 747-8F

Boeing delivered the first 747-8 freighter to Cargolux (CV) Wednesday at a ceremony in Everett, Wash., that took place several weeks later than planned. Though it is the launch customer for the aircraft, CV last month declined to accept delivery, citing performance shortfalls.

"I'm happy to announce that we've resolved the contractual issues that delayed the first delivery of our new 747-8 freighter last month," Boeing VP-marketing Randy Tinseth said in a Wednesday post on his blog. He noted that Cargolux will take delivery of its second 747-8F Thursday.

"Even though we had to wait a bit longer than expected, it doesn't make these deliveries any less sweet," Tinseth wrote. CV has a total of 13 747-8Fs on order.
